Website design questions,
answered.
Everything you'd want to know before reaching out — process, timelines, ownership, hosting, SEO, pricing, and more. If it's not here, just ask.
The website design process.
01How does the process work from start to launch?+
It starts with your goal — more enquiries, stronger credibility, better local visibility, or a clearer online presence. I reply within one business day. From there:
- Discovery — goals, audience, and what the website needs to achieve
- Content planning — page structure, messaging hierarchy, and content map
- Scope — fixed scope, timeline, and investment agreed before work begins
- Design — visual direction and page-by-page layout built for trust and action
- Build — custom-coded from scratch in HTML, CSS, and JavaScript
- Review — revisions, cross-device QA, and performance testing
- Launch — go live with domain connection, analytics setup, and support
02Do I need a full brief before reaching out?+
No. A rough outline is enough. If you can share what your organisation does, who it serves, and what you need the website to achieve, that is plenty to begin.
I'll help turn that into a clear scope and the right build path. No polished brief required.
03What do you need from me to start?+
Once scope is approved and deposit is paid, I need:
- Core information about your organisation and what you offer
- Brand assets (logo, colours, fonts) if available
- Content and imagery, or direction for sourcing
- Domain and hosting access when launch is due
If anything is missing, we map it in the kickoff plan.
04How do revisions work?+
Each package includes a set number of revision rounds. Feedback is consolidated into one list per round, then implemented in full.
This keeps delivery fast and prevents project drag. Additional rounds can be scoped in if needed.
05Do I approve design before build starts?+
Yes. Design direction and page structure are approved first. Build starts only after sign-off so execution is aligned with your goals.
Custom code & technology.
06Do you only build custom-coded websites?+
Yes. Every website built by RASTRICK. MADE is custom-coded from scratch using HTML, CSS, and JavaScript.
We don't build on Wix, Shopify, WordPress, Squarespace, Webflow, or any page builder platform. This means faster performance, cleaner code, no platform lock-in, and a website built specifically around your organisation's goals.
07Why don't you work with website builders?+
Page builders are convenient, but they come with real trade-offs — bloated code, shared infrastructure, limited design control, and ongoing platform fees.
Custom-coded websites are:
- Faster — no platform bloat, no unnecessary scripts
- More flexible — no template constraints or platform rules
- Fully owned — you own the code, no monthly subscription required to keep it live
- Better performing — cleaner Core Web Vitals, better SEO potential
The decision to build custom isn't just a preference — it's a commitment to quality of output for every client.
08Can you build landing pages?+
Yes. Custom landing pages are built around message clarity, mobile speed, and low-friction enquiry or booking flow.
They are designed to communicate what your organisation offers and make it easy for visitors to take the next step.
09Will my website be mobile-optimised?+
Yes. Every build is mobile-first. Layouts, forms, and CTAs are tested for speed and usability across devices before launch.
10What devices and browsers are tested?+
Chrome, Safari, Firefox, and Edge across desktop and mobile. iOS Safari and Android Chrome are treated as critical checks.
11Do you work with ecommerce businesses?+
No. RASTRICK. MADE does not build ecommerce stores or Shopify websites.
The studio focuses on custom-coded websites for service businesses, community organisations, not-for-profits, churches, sporting clubs, and local brands.
This allows RASTRICK. MADE to specialise in websites that prioritise trust, visibility, enquiries, bookings, memberships, registrations, donations, and community engagement — rather than online retail systems.
Website packages & pricing.
12How are projects priced?+
Projects are fixed-price. You receive clear scope, timeline, deliverables, and investment before work begins.
If scope changes, it is quoted and approved before implementation.
13Why does pricing vary between packages?+
Because project needs vary by scope, complexity, and depth of strategy required.
A 3-page Starter and a 10-page Local Authority build with service area pages and full tracking are fundamentally different jobs. Pricing reflects that — and all three packages are priced fairly for what they include.
14What are your payment terms?+
A deposit secures your slot and starts production. Remaining payments are milestone-based and documented in your proposal.
15Which package is right for my organisation?+
Quick guide:
- Starter (from $999) — sole traders, small businesses, community groups, and sporting clubs needing a professional online presence
- Growth (from $1,999) — service businesses, not-for-profits, and community organisations wanting better credibility, local visibility, and consistent enquiries
- Local Authority (from $2,999) — businesses and organisations wanting to become the trusted name in their local area
If you're unsure, I'll recommend the best fit based on your goals and budget — no upsell pressure.
16Can we start smaller and scale later?+
Yes. Projects are structured to scale. You can launch lean, then add pages, landing pages, service areas, content sections, or additional functionality in planned phases.
Project timelines.
17How long does a project usually take?+
As a general guide:
- Starter — 1 to 2 weeks
- Growth — 2 to 3 weeks
- Local Authority — 3 to 5 weeks
Timing depends on scope readiness, content availability, and feedback speed.
18Can you launch quickly if we have a deadline?+
Yes, where scope allows. If content and approvals are ready, fast-turnaround launches are possible.
19What causes delays?+
Most delays come from incomplete content, slow feedback, or mid-project scope changes.
- Late content or asset delivery
- Delayed decision-making on key pages
- Access delays for domains or integrations
Clear kickoff and milestone approvals reduce this risk significantly.
20Do you offer priority delivery?+
Yes, when capacity allows. Priority delivery is scoped around deadline, complexity, and readiness.
SEO & website performance.
21Do you include SEO foundations?+
Yes. Every build includes technical SEO fundamentals:
- Search-friendly page structure and metadata
- Clean URLs and image alt text
- Mobile-first performance
- Analytics and conversion tracking setup
Deeper SEO strategy and ongoing content work can be scoped separately.
22Is custom code better for SEO than platform-built sites?+
Generally, yes. Custom-coded websites have cleaner code, faster load times, more control over technical structure, and no platform-generated scripts bloating the page.
These factors all contribute to better Core Web Vitals and a cleaner technical foundation. Faster, lighter code is better for users and for search engines alike.
23How fast will my website be?+
Fast by default. Performance targets are set during scope and validated before launch.
Image handling, script control, and mobile optimisation are treated as core build requirements.
24Do you offer Google Business Profile setup?+
Yes. Google Business Profile setup and optimisation is available as an add-on.
This is especially useful for local businesses and organisations that want to improve their visibility on Google Search and Google Maps.
Setup can include:
- Business category selection
- Service setup and description
- Website connection and basic optimisation
- Verification guidance
Code ownership & handover.
25Who owns the website after launch?+
You do.
Once final payment is complete, you own your website content, branding assets, imagery supplied by you, and the final website delivered for your business or organisation.
RASTRICK. MADE may retain internal development processes, reusable code libraries, frameworks, and tools used during development — but your completed website belongs to you.
There is no platform lock-in and no mandatory ongoing retainer.
26Can I edit my website myself after it's launched?+
Yes, but custom-coded websites work differently to platforms like Wix, Squarespace, or Shopify.
RASTRICK. MADE websites are built from scratch using custom code, so you won't be logging into a drag-and-drop page builder to make changes yourself.
For updates such as adding photos, updating text, changing contact details, or adding new content, you can:
- Subscribe to a Website Care Plan
- Request updates as a one-off service whenever needed
- Work with another developer in the future if you choose
One of the biggest benefits of a custom-coded website is that there are no ongoing platform subscriptions, plugin fees, or page-builder costs.
The only ongoing costs are your domain name, hosting, and an optional Website Care Plan. You own your website and there is no lock-in.
27Can my team update content after launch?+
Custom-coded websites work differently to platforms like Wix, Squarespace, or Shopify.
You won't be logging into a drag-and-drop editor to redesign pages yourself.
For updates, you can subscribe to a Website Care Plan, request one-off updates whenever needed, or work with another developer in the future.
You own your website and are never locked into ongoing services.
28Do I have to pay ongoing monthly subscriptions?+
No.
RASTRICK. MADE websites do not require Wix, Squarespace, Shopify, WordPress, plugin, theme, or page-builder subscriptions.
The only ongoing costs are:
- Your domain name
- Website hosting
- Optional Website Care Plan, if you would like ongoing support and updates
You own your website and there is no platform lock-in.
29Do you offer website hosting?+
Yes. Website hosting can be arranged as part of your Website Care Plan, or you can use your own hosting provider if preferred.
If hosting is managed through RASTRICK. MADE, your website will be kept online, monitored, and supported without requiring you to manage the technical setup yourself.
30What is included in handover?+
At handover you receive:
- Access to your website files and key credentials
- Assets and implementation files relevant to your build
- Tracking and integration status
- Clear next-step and support guidance
Everything is documented so you can operate confidently.
31Are there ongoing monthly fees to RASTRICK. MADE?+
No. RASTRICK. MADE does not charge mandatory monthly fees.
The only ongoing costs are your domain name, website hosting, and an optional Website Care Plan if you would like ongoing support and updates.
There are no Wix, Shopify, Squarespace, WordPress, plugin, theme, or page-builder subscriptions required.
After launch.
32What support is included after launch?+
Every package includes a defined support window for fixes, refinements, and launch adjustments.
Longer-term support and optimisation can be added as needed.
33Can you help with updates after support ends?+
Yes. You can request one-off updates or subscribe to an ongoing Website Care Plan for new pages, content updates, and performance refinements.
34Can we redesign or add pages later?+
Absolutely. Builds are structured for future growth. New pages, new service areas, redesigns, and campaign landing pages can be scoped in phases.
35Can you rebuild an existing website?+
Yes. RASTRICK. MADE offers complete custom-coded website rebuilds for businesses, community organisations, and not-for-profits.
Whether your current website is built on Wix, Squarespace, WordPress, Shopify, Webflow, GoDaddy Website Builder, or another platform, it can be rebuilt from scratch using custom code.
Existing content, branding, imagery, and website assets can be reviewed and incorporated into the new build where appropriate.
RASTRICK. MADE does not work inside these platforms. Rebuild projects are completed as entirely new custom-coded websites.
Website rebuilds from any platform.
36Do you redesign or work inside Wix, Squarespace, WordPress, or Webflow websites?+
No. RASTRICK. MADE does not edit, maintain, redesign, or develop websites inside Wix, Squarespace, WordPress, Shopify, Webflow, GoDaddy, or any page builder platform.
If your current website is on one of these platforms and you want to work together, the project becomes a complete custom-coded rebuild.
37Can you migrate my existing website content?+
Yes. Content migration is included as part of any website rebuild. Your existing copy, branding, and imagery are reviewed, refined, and rebuilt into the new custom-coded website.
The goal is never to just copy and paste — it's to take what's useful from your existing site and make it better.
38Why is a rebuild better than redesigning my existing site?+
Redesigning inside a platform leaves you with the same underlying limitations — slow load times, template constraints, platform fees, and code you don't own.
A custom-coded rebuild gives you:
- Faster performance — no platform bloat or unnecessary scripts
- Full design control — no template grid, no widget limitations
- Code ownership — you own it, no ongoing subscription to keep it live
- Cleaner code and faster performance — no platform bloat or unnecessary scripts
39How long does a rebuild take compared to a new build?+
Similar timeframes. Having existing content can actually speed up the process since there's less to create from scratch. The rebuild follows the same process: discovery, content planning, design, build, review, and launch.
Working together.
40Are you based in Australia?+
Yes. RASTRICK. MADE is based in Canberra and works remotely with businesses and organisations across Australia.
41Do you work with international clients?+
Yes. International projects are fully supported with structured communication and timeline clarity.
42How is communication handled during a project?+
Email and scheduled calls are the primary channels. You receive clear milestone updates and direct communication on decisions.
No bloated communication stack, no unclear status.
43Why choose a one-person studio instead of an agency?+
When you work with RASTRICK. MADE, you work directly with the person designing and building your website from start to finish.
No account managers.
No sales teams.
No unnecessary layers.
Just direct communication, transparent pricing, and a custom-coded website built specifically around your organisation.
